Margaritas

Filed under: Personal — Chinmayi @ 6:22 pm

I love that word. Visions of cocktail glasses brimming with cool potent liquid, topped with salt and lime.

We had margaritas today, a couple of classmates and I. It isn’t even six months since we graduated, it isn’t even six months since we sat on the mess steps in faded jeans, holding sticky cups of over-sweetened tea in our hands laughing. Today, we held margaritas in a darkened exotic restaurant and laughed. Today, the different choices we made are already beginning to leave their mark on our appearance. And today, we laughed together again, just like the old times – and it seemed like nothing had changed. I wonder how long this stillness of relationships can last, how long before the strings suddenly jerk us around and suddenly we find ourselves so far away that we can’t see eachother smile.

But today was nice. The margaritas and the laughing.
